Dr. Ballew joined the staff of Winfield First Baptist in January of 1987, after twenty years of combined service in several other Alabama Baptist churches. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and holds the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves on our local Hospice board and as Voluntary Chaplain Coordinator for Northwest Medical Center. Bro. Charlie and his wife Joyce have two sons, Mike and Darryl, and a daughter, Janna, who was killed in an automobile accident in 1986. They also have seven grandchildren.
Minister of Music & Senior Adults: Tim Lacey -
Born in Mobile, AL, Tim grew up in the small town of Silverhill in the center of Baldwin County. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at the University of South Alabama and after a couple of years of college, interspersed with two years of touring as a trumpet player in the Christian group TRUTH, Lacey transferred to Mobile College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in instrumental music education. After teaching high school band for one year at Red Level High School in Covington County, Tim surrendered to the ministry of church music and served as Minister of Music and Youth at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida, where he met his wife, Debbie Grimm. In 1984 Tim and Debbie moved to Louisville, KY and Tim attend seminary at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bro. Lacey graduated from Southern Seminary in 1987 with a Master's degree in church music, writing and arranging for church instrumental groups. He served full time in churches in Kentucky and Alabama before joining the staff of Winfield First Baptist in July of 1996 as Minister of Music and Senior Adults. In January of 2004, Tim and Debbie travelled to Kharkov, Ukraine where they adopted their daughter, Kristi.
Minister of Youth & Education: Jeff Brantley
Jeff began serving at Winfield First Baptist in January of 2006. He grew up in Atmore, Alabama and received his B.S. degree from the University of South Alabama in 1991. Jeff received his Master of Divinity(Biblical Languages) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1994. He has served in student ministry since 1992, working in churches in Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee. He has been married to Darla since 1991, and they have two children, a son Luke, and a daughter Robin.
